Anti-bacterial Corticosteroid Therapy

Comments:-

Combination drugs are used :-

1. Where an anti-inflammatory is necessary to counteract the toxic effects of bacterial toxins whilst the anti-bacterial is acting alongside.

and

2. For prophylactic use after ophthalmic surgery, to suppress inflammation and to reduce the risk of subsequent post-operative infection.

N.B.
Prolonged use of steroids requires tapering the dosage, and a check on IOP, corneal thinning and cataract formation.
