Aminoglycosides

Comments:-

In general use for all types of patients or infections, including the widespread use for both eye and ear infections.
Consider possible cross allergy to other aminoglycosides (neomycin, framycetin); request information on metabisulphite sensitivity; in some individuals, a mild keratitis can develop that could be attributed to gentamicin.
Protein synthesis inhibitor drugs are all broad spectrum and are affective against the most common Gram positive and Gram negative organisms, providing resistance has not developed.
