NUTRITIONAL THERAPY

Louise Stanford, Nutritional Therapist

BSc (Hons), FdSc Nut. Therapy, NT DipION, NT DipCNM, mBANT, rCNHC

Nutritional therapy aims to assess the different biochemical and physiological process occurring in an individual and identify where imbalances maybe causing or contributing to health problems. Nutritional therapy uses an evidence-based and holistic approach in its assessment and management of a client’s symptoms in order to facilitate and enhance the body’s ability to heal itself through nutrition (which can include the use of supplements) and lifestyle changes. Each person is seen as unique and therefore nutrition plans are bespoke.

Louise’s training and use of evidence based practice along with personal experience means she is able to successfully support clients in making nutritional changes that are effective and achievable. Following an in depth consultation she creates a bespoke plan for each client for a specific period of time before they are then reviewed (typically every 8 – 12 weeks). In addition to the nutritional changes, supplements can also be advised.

Nutritional Therapy can support a wide range of specific health conditions (e.g. high cholesterol, arthritis, hormonal conditions such as thyroid and menopause, IBS, eczema, asthma) as well as non-specific conditions (digestive problems, fatigue, coping with a busy lifestyle). And now with genetic testing readily available nutritional therapy is also an excellent tool for health prevention.

In addition to working with adults, Louise also has experience of working with children and this is an area of specific interest.

Louise is always happy to offer a free 20minute consultation to discuss whether nutritional therapy would be appropriate for you, either in person or by phone.

Testimonial

“I went to see Louise as I was having trouble with bloating and feeling uncomfortable after I had eaten.

I was asked a series of questions about my diet and Louise quickly came to the conclusion it could be a gluten or wheat intolerance. I was give some really good information about what to cut out of my diet for a trial period; including print outs of good foods to introduce into my diet and ones to avoid.

We started on just avoiding wheat to see if there was any change. After a few weeks of cutting wheat out from my diet I noticed a huge difference; I was no longer bloated and uncomfortable.

I went back for a follow up with Louise and it became clear it was the wheat causing my issues. I found the whole experience very positive and Louise to be extremely helpful; I felt very comfortable talking about my issues with her. I would recommend Louise to anyone.”
